Wendell is a small community located just fourteen miles east of Raleigh, North Carolina. It was incorporated on March 6, 1903 as an area one half-mile square. In the fall of 1906, the Raleigh-Pamlico Railroad made its first stop in Wendell as the porters and conductors sang out "Wen-Dell" stressing both syllables. The residents soon adapted this same exaggerated pronunciation of their new town.

Wendell experiences the best of both worlds, small town living, with the convenience of a big city nearby. This makes it a popular commuter town for those professionals who do want to move out of the urban areas.

Housing costs in Wendell don't seem to have caught up with the rest of the nation! Which is a good thing if you want to buy a home in this region! The average price for a home is around $70,000! This buys a comfortable three-bedroom home, with one or two bathrooms. There are many other options available, from condos to town homes and even rentals.

Wendell, like the rest of North Carolina, is short on snow and long on sun! With an extremely mild climate, you can play golf and the other sports all year round! The mild climate makes Wendell an attractive destination for those "snowbirds" looking to move south!

Education is a high priority for this forward thinking community as well. And there are many choices in schools as well, whether public, private or parochial. For further education there are so many fine North Carolina colleges located nearby, it is hard to make a decision!
