Holly Springs is located in Wake County, North Carolina just 18 miles from Raleigh and Research Triangle Park (RTP).  Holly Springs titles of note include "The fastest growing town in The Carolinas" from the 2006 census as well as in 2007 CNNMoney.com poll ranked the town as the 22nd Best Small town to live in.

Holly Springs did get any attention whatsoever until about 1987 when the town built its first sewer plant.  By 1992 Holly Springs was feeling the growth in populations from families moving away from Cary and Apex in order to find more affordable real estate as well as a little more small town feel.

Holly Springs is a near idilic place to raise a family for those native to North Carolina or relocating from another area.  The town continues to grow and evolve with a focus on safety and quality of life.  The town has three public elementary schools, a middle school, and a public high school. A recently built Cultural Arts Center was also just opened in early December 2006.

The town has had to endure a losing battle with the rest of the County in housing the new waste facility near Main Street and N.C. Hwy 55.  Although residents were not pleased with the outcome of the plant, real estate valus continue to grow and more people are moving to Holly Springs to and to many of the new sub-divisions in the town.

There is also plenty of commercial and retail growth in Holly Springs.  In 2006, Novartis announced they would start building a manufacturing facility employing  approximately 350 people.

The town has 2 smaller strip malls. One with with an Ale House style restaurant, a Mexican Restaurant, a Lowe's Foods, a Dollar Tree, and several other fast food chains including Quizno's, and a Chinese food chain. The second off Holly Springs Road has a Harris Teeter strip-mall with other restaurants and stores opening.

A very large new strip mall featuring a Wal-Mart Super Center is open and thriving off of Highway 55. As well as the newly opened Holly Springs Farmers Market located at the Town Hall on Saturdays from May to October.

Holly Springs is one of the few municipalities that provide team sports directly by the town for residents including football, baseball (featuring four professional fields), basketball and recreational soccer. The Triangle Y Soccer Club also provides recreational and challenge-level soccer through affiliation with the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association. There is also a non-profit challenge soccer league which is part of the Triangle Futbol Club.

DEMOGRAPHICS - As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 9,192 people.  The racial makeup of the town was 77.14% White, 18.65% African American, 0.42% Native American, 1.23% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.12% from other races, and 1.43% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.02% of the population.

The median income for a household in the town was $69,550, and the median income for a family was $74,010. The per capita income for the town was $28,580
