Fuquay-Varina is located iin Wake County, North Carolina approximately 30 minutes south of Raleigh, NC and has seen recent population growth and many residential real estate opportunities for those relocating to the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area or simply looking for a home or investment property.  Fuquay-Varina offer established homes, new sub-divisions and 55+ retirement communities too.

Fuquay Varina's original growth revolved around the tobacco trade and agriculture.  The town was started by two settlers - once seperate towns now joined together to form Fuquay-Varina.   The origins of the settlement were Fuquay Springs, a resort near a spring on Stephen Fuquay’s property; and Varina, a ridge near a general store founded by J.D. Ballentine. When Fuquay Springs was incorporated in 1909, the Varina community was subsumed. In 1963, the hyphen was added to acknowledge the historical presence of both settlements.

DEMOGRAPHICS - 2000 Census population was 7,898 people.  The racial makeup of the town was 70.63% White, 24.40% African American, 0.41% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.94% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were at least 7.38% of the population, but because of the amazing growth of the illegal population, probably much more.

The median income for a household in the town was $42,903, and the median income for a family was $49,531. The per capita income for the town was $20,268. About 9.0% of families and 11.1% of the population were below the poverty line.

EDUCATION - Fuquay-Varina's public schools are administered by the Wake County Public School System. There are five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school located within its borders or close by. There is also a private Montessori school and a kindergarten through 12th grade Christian School.

Fuquay-Varina is also with in driving distance of North Carolina State University, Shaw University, St. Augustine's College, Peace College, North Carolina Central University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University. Wake Technical Community College is located eight miles to the north.
