Most noted for being the home of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the countries oldest state supported university. The Town of Chapel Hill is located principally in Orange County and slightly in Durham County in the north central portion of North Carolina. As one of the three “points” of The Research Triangle, Chapel Hill, along with Raleigh and Durham, continually receives accolades for being a top location to live and do business. Our neighbor to the west is Carrboro and to the north is Hillsborough.
Chapel Hill is North Carolina's best educated city, proportionately, with 77.0% of adult residents (25 and older) holding an associate degree or higher, and 73.7% of adults possessing a baccalaureate degree or higher (2000 Census).
